Sorta Serious
Life isn't all fun and games. Unless you are heir to the Parker Bros. estate, but what are the odds of that?

Everyone's gotta make money, and seeing as how music wasn't paying any bills for me, I decided to get a job like grown-ups get. I often wake up before noon now!
Anyway, I'm riding the wave of an IT career that started at the U of M Daily in 1999. I started in PC Support Technician and have worked my way up to Internet Security Engineer. I like my current title way better because it's much more important and pretentious sounding.
Here's an overview of my skill sets and specialties:

  • OS management and administration
9x, 2k, xp, nt, 2k, 2k3, linux (redhat, fedora, puppy, centOS, mandrake), unix (free bsd, open bsd, solaris)
  • Server platforms
    dell, hp, vmware, custom
  • Network switching and routing
    cisco, extreme, hp, dell, mikrotik
  • Network technologies
10/100/1000 ethernet over copper and fiber, perimeter and personal firewall, content filtering, antivirus, ids, ips, ssl and ipsec vpn, wireless, disk encryption, backup, disaster recovery planning, authentication, monitoring, troubleshooting
  • Security
checkpoint, nokia, netscreen, pix, pointsec, websense, guardian edge, integrity, vulnerability scanning
  • Certifications
    CCNA, MCP, CCNE+

    Background?
Here's a partial list of some clients and employers I've worked with in the last 5 years:
    Anderson Windows
    Valspar Corporation
    Atomic Colo
    Current Companies
I'm currently gainfully employed by Fishnet Security. Fishnet is one of the largest and most respected names in IT security in the country, and I love working there. But, since I'm a tinkerer, I have other things going on as well. I own a company called TCBands.com that inexpensively hosts websites primarily for bands and other low-income artists. I also own part of a company called SkyWire which focuses on wireless internet delivery for businesses, as well as phone, colocation and IT support.

    Who cares?
Probably not you, because this is pretty boring stuff to most.
But, I love talking shop with just about anyone. Technically, I only do work for Fishnet. Feel free, however, to email me and tell me about your last vacation to Spain or ask me about my favorite shoes. I love talking about my shoes.
